Annual family-style barbecue expands to two days during Final Stretch festivities
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Race Course will provide horse racing fans with one last chance to indulge with a classic Labor Day barbecue on Sunday, September 5 and Monday, September 6.
For the first time, the annual event, held as part of Final Stretch festivities, has been expanded to two days, allowing fans twice the opportunity to bring the 142nd meet to a close in true American style.

ON-TRACK ATTENDANCE AND HANDLE UP ON TRAVERS DAY
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – On a picture-perfect day that saw a thrilling finish to the 141st running of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers, on-track attendance and handle continued an upward trend at Saratoga Race Course.
A crowd of 45,764 witnessed Afleet Express defeat Fly Down by a nose in the “Mid-summer Derby,” an increase of 33.7 percent over last year’s attendance of 34,221 on hand for Summer Bird’s dominant victory.
On-track handle for Saratoga’s races was $8,218,975, an increase of 19.9 percent over last year’s total of $6,853,155.

Entry forms for the promotion will be issued to the first 10,000 patrons admitted to the racetrack on Wednesday and must be completed and deposited by 2 p.m. at the Information Booth in either the Clubhouse or the Grandstand, or at the entrance to “The Post” in the Shake Shack Area.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Galloping out after the oh-so-close finish of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers at Saratoga Race Course, jockeys Javier Castellano, aboard Afleet Express, and Jose Lezcano, riding Fly Down, looked questioningly at each other.
"What do you think?" asked Lezcano.
"Either way," replied Castellano.
DISCREETLY MINE BLAZES TO KING’S BISHOP VICTORY

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – In an electrifying display of speed, Discreetly Mine roared through an opening quarter-mile in 21.90 seconds and a half in 44.11 on his way to a 1 ¼-length victory in the 26th running of the Grade 1, $250,000 King’s Bishop on Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course.
With trainer Todd Pletcher instructing jockey John Velazquez Jr. to take the E. Paul Robsham Stables-owned son of Mineshaft to the front, the colt maintained a comfortable margin throughout and hit the wire in 1:23.16 for the first Grade 1 win of his career.
RIGHTLY SO STRUTS TO GRADE 1 VICTORY IN BALLERINA

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Rightly So led every step and earned her first Grade 1 win Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course with a front-running, four-length victory over Warbling in the 32nd running of the $250,000 Ballerina Stakes.
RAPPORT GOES WIRE-TO-WIRE IN VICTORY RIDE

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Rapport grabbed the lead coming out of the gate and never looked back as she streaked to a 3 ½-length victory over My Jen in the 8th running of the Grade 3, $100,000 Victory Ride on Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course.
After zipping through an opening quarter-mile in 22.05 and a half in 44.54, the 3-year-old Songandaprayer filly shook off a challenge from Beyondallboundarys as the field of eight straightened for home and was never threatened thereafter as she cruised to the wire in 1:09.66 for the six furlongs over a fast track.
