Through The Binoculars
A list of horses that look ‘live’ and solid ready to win prospects, at tracks across North America. Horses are considered playable for win only at odds of 3-1 or better, and 5-1, for win-place. Each horse is playable a maximum of three times.

CAPTAIN CARLOS
First-time starter was off slow then 4 and 5 wide throughout in a lackluster performance. Don’t give up on this guy though, as this barn is usually better second time out.
October 4 (Turfway Park)
CONNEMARA
Pletcher-trained debuting two-year-old missed the break but still rolled home an easy winner. Well-bred colt looks to have a bright future, and can win right back!
October 9 (Keeneland)
GRASSY NELLIE
Our spotters say this filly was blocked the entire length of the stretch on Opening Day, yet still wasn’t beaten much for the win. With a cleaner trip next time-go to the windows!
October 11 (Belmont Park)
FATEH FIELD
Was totally blocked in the stretch in a recent 7-furlong sprint. Should do next start with a better trip.
(Keeneland)
GOLD D’ORO
Mott-trained filly made her first start with winners, was bet down and made a menacing 5-wide move but flattened out just past the three quarters. This girl is improving with every start and looks to have a bright future on the grass.
HARLANS PRINCESS
Two-year-old filly debuted for a strong debut barn, and pressed the pace to just past the half-mile pole. Should be tighter next time out.
TABBY
Was in the same race as the one above, debuting off a series of good works, and broke 11th of 12. Did close belatedly despite being 5 wide into the stretch.
October 17 (Keeneland)
AHH
Worked well for her debut (all on conventional dirt), however seemed to spin her wheels a bit on the poly. Might be a sleeper when they go to Churchill.
(Santa Anita)
HOSTILE REACTION
Was making her first start since the middle of August for a barn that was 0 for 34 with layoffs of this type. Pressed a solid pace down on the inside, only to fade in the stretch. May run back to her good works next time out!
(Woodbine Racetrack)
MESA CIELO
Was making first start since a late August Maiden win, only to be blocked down the backstretch, and also in the stretch. Horse needs another chance!
