Through The Binoculars September 18 - 30

Date:
October 2, 2009

September 18 (Woodbine Racetrack)
BRAZILIAN WEDDING
Our spotters tab this horse as one that won’t be held off much longer. Get in on it!

September 20 (Fort Erie Racetrack)
TEACHER BOYNE
Making first start of season 10-pound ‘bug boy’, went extremely wide turning for home, but was literally flying at the end to finish a close up third. This guy has some back class.

(Woodbine Racetrack)
BERRY HILL
Debuted with a good string of works from a tough outside post, and never really got into the race at all. Was noticed finishing well though, so don’t dismiss!

September 26 (Belmont Park)
CHEROKEE SPEED
Finished third in a blanket finish but was on heels throughout the entire stretch run, with nowhere to go. With a cleaner trip, look out!

SEPARATIST
Was shut off at the top of the stretch when it looked like he was making a winning move for jockey Garcia. Still was only beat 1-1/4 lengths for top prize.

(Fairplex Park)
MISS EDYTA
With a better start in her first two lifetime starts, this miss probably wouldn’t still be a Maiden. Instead, she has finished second twice, and with a little work from the gate, we think that the Maiden win is in the cards shortly.

(Turfway Park)
TURFISTE
What a strange race from this guy, or better still, a curious ride by the jock in a $100,000 stakes event. Was up with the pace, dropped back, but was noticed finishing fast for third money. Next time will be 3rd off the layoff.

(Woodbine Racetrack)
COLLEGE LAND
Was listed on an earlier ‘Through the Binoculars’ list after her first start in a $50K Maiden Claimer. Came out today with ‘Blinkers On’ and in an Open Maiden and showed some speed while down on the inside. Catch this girl when she is back in the claiming ranks.

September 27 (Arlington Park)
I AM PRECISION
Two-year-old debuted with a promising series of works, problem was, so did several others in the race. Colt showed some interest early though, and might be that much better next time.

(Woodbine Racetrack)
STYNER
Two-year-old from the Alec Fehr barn looked to be figuring it all out at the finish of his debut race. Give him a big shot next time!

September 30 (Santa Anita Park)
RED DOOR DRIVE
Baffert trainee was making first start in over 370 days. Looked the part on the track, but was shut off near the half, regrouped and had the eventual 75-1 winner cross over into his path in the stretch. Despite this eventful trip, he still finished second, a neck behind. Shouldn’t make any mistakes next time out.
